Set up your shop

What happens after you sign up — the setup wizard, the checklist on your dashboard, and why verifying your email matters before you send anything.

Actualizado el 25 de julio de 2026

Signing up creates your shop, your owner account and your trial in one step. A card is required to start the trial; it is not charged until the trial ends. What follows is a short setup wizard, and then a checklist that finishes itself as you work.

The setup wizard

Straight after signup you land on a two-step wizard. Every step is skippable — nothing here blocks you from writing your first estimate, and anything you skip stays on the dashboard checklist.

  1. Money & taxes

Your default tax rate and your standard hourly labor rate. The tax rate is applied to taxable lines and can still be overridden per item; the labor rate becomes your shop's default rate, which every new labor line falls back to. Both drive every estimate and invoice you write, which is why they come first.

  2. Branding

Your logo and the contact email customers reply to. Both appear on the documents you send. This step only appears on plans that include custom branding — if you don't see it, the wizard is one step long.

Consejo

The labor rate you type here becomes a real rate in Settings → Labor rates, named and editable like any other. Adding a second rate later — diagnostic, fleet — does not disturb it. See labor rates.

The checklist on your dashboard

The card at the top of your dashboard is not a stored to-do list. Every row is re-derived from the shop's actual state each time you load the page, so it ticks itself as you do the work:

StepCounts as done when
Verify your emailThe owner account's email address has been confirmed
Tax & labor ratesA default tax rate is set and at least one labor rate exists
Logo & contact emailBoth a logo and a shop contact email are present
First orderThe shop has at least one order
Invite a teammateThe shop has more than one user
Connect paymentsA payment account is connected

Two rows behave differently from the rest. Steps your plan does not include are dropped entirely rather than shown greyed out — a single-seat plan never shows "invite a teammate", so the checklist can genuinely reach 100%. And a step you skipped in the wizard counts as handled, not outstanding: you told us you did not want it.

You can dismiss the card at any point. Dismissing hides it; it does not mark anything done, and the underlying steps go on tracking your shop.

Verify your email before you send

The one step worth doing immediately is email verification. Until the owner's address is confirmed, everything that sends on your behalf is blocked:

  • emailing an estimate or invoice to a customer
  • sending a message in an order conversation
  • sending a message from the inbox
  • re-sending an estimate for approval

Atención

This gate exists because those messages leave our mail domain carrying your shop's name. An unverified signup that could send email is a spam problem for every other shop on the platform.

Everything else works while you wait — you can build orders, price work, book appointments and take payment. The banner across the top of the app resends the verification link if it never arrived.

Where to go next

  1. Price your work

Add the rest of your labor rates, then decide whether you want pricing matrices for parts and labor matrices for hours.

  2. Write your first estimate

From the workflow board. See estimates and authorization.

  3. Get set up to be paid

Payment terms, invoices and online card payment are covered in getting paid.

Troubleshooting

"The checklist says my rates aren't set, but I entered a rate." That row needs both halves: a default tax rate and a labor rate. Setting only one leaves it open.

"I finished the wizard and the checklist is still showing." Finishing the wizard records that you finished it; the card keeps showing the steps that are genuinely outstanding. Dismiss it if you would rather work through them in your own time.

"I never got the verification email." Use the resend link in the banner, then check the spam folder for the address on your owner account — not your shop's contact email, which can be a different address.
